The School Council is the organization where parents communicate and exchange ideas with each other, teachers and school management on a large variety of issues such as:

Student policies and procedures( (i.e) lates, discipline, dress code, etc.

School programs (i.e. Science Fair, Concerts), curriculum adaptions |

Computer technology |
4. |
field trips, extra-curricular programs |
5. |
fundraisers, special events, etc |
The School council does not do `Site Based Management', but in effect is an advisory drawing board where all parties involved in our school can express their preferences as to what direction to take on the above and/or many other issues. Parents `make' the meetings: any concerns regarding the well-being of our students can be presented, discussed and hopefully solved. All parents of students at our school can attend the School Council meetings and each attending parent (or guardian) has a vote.
COUNCIL EXECUTIVE
The School council has an Executive (`Board') if you will that will follow up on all issues brought to the meetings and whose members act on the parents requests. The current Executive was elected on February 1st this year at an Establishment Meeting held at the school, operates until the next elections in June 1997 and consists of: Seven parents of students attending our school, elected by parents; Two teachers, elected by the teachers at our schoo and the principal. The School Council meetings are held monthly during the school year - the first Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Art Room at the School. |
